The Maple Leafs' prospects took on the Canadiens' prospects this past weekend in Montreal during a shortened rookie camp. The Leafs ended up winning both games, but lost two key prospects in Minten and Danford to freak injuries.
Danford was injured on a hit from camp invitee and undrafted forward Marshall Finnie ahead of the two-game weekend, suffering an apparent upper-body injury. Minten, on the other hand, was injured in yesterday's game after being shoved into the boards awkwardly by Habs defensive prospect David Reinbacher.
Following the conclusion of game two yesterday, Marlies head coach and coach of the rookie team John Gruden provided positive updates on the pair, stating that the Leafs are hopeful that both will be ready for main camp, which is slated to start on Wednesday this week.
Although Gruden didn't provide updates on the nature of the injuries sustained, the fact the team believes both should be ready for training camp this week bodes well, particularly for Minten, who is expected to challenge for a roster spot after earning a 4-game audition last season.
