The Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes have been talking trade for quite awhile now. Before the season started, the Leafs were connected with lefty defenseman Brett Pesce however the Hurricanes wanted William Nylander in return which the Leafs immediately balked at. With that trade dead in the water, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reports the Leafs could be trying to land a Hurricanes forward instead. The NHL insider stated on TSN's "Insider Trading" the Leafs are potentially scouting 'Canes forward Micheal Ferland to fill a power forward role. The 26 year old has 14 goals and 14 assists so far this season and will be UFA after this season. He'd be less of a cap hit than Wayne Simmonds as he's currently only making $1.75million on the season. Do you think he would be a good option for the Leafs?
