Signed to a one-year, league minimum deal in July, Philippe Myers made the Leafs' main roster out of training camp.
Unfortunately for him, Myers has drawn into just one game for the Leafs so far this season, and with Jani Hakanpaa returning from a lengthy rehab following knee surgery, Myers has found himself further down the depth chart.
Saturday, however, the Leafs made the decision to get the undrafted 27-year-old some playing time and assigned him to the Marlies on a conditioning stint.
As we learned with Hakanpaa and Dewar, conditioning stints can last 3 games, with the possibility of being extended if an exception is given. The Leafs play just three times over 13 days beginning Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers so having Myers draw into games for the Marlies while freeing up a roster spot is a win-win for the Leafs and Myers.
This isn't the first time Myers will have suited up for the Marlies, as he previously spent 16 games with the Toronto Marlies in 2021-22 after being loaned to Toronto by the Nashville Predators.
Last season, Myers spent most of it with the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL, where he collected 23 points. The undrafted free agent has played in 159 regular season games, registering 36 points and 72 penalty minutes.
