Training camp will open up next week, but before the on ice sessions begin on September 19th, the Maple Leafs' prospects will first travel to Montreal to take part in the Prospect Showcase.
Ben Danford, who was selected by the Maple Leafs with the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft will be present at the event, as will Easton Cowan (28th overall in 2023) and Fraser Minten (38th overall in 2022), who both participated in the event around this time last year. For NHL hopefuls like Minten and Cowan, this showcase will be a great opportunity to stand out as men among boys, giving them a chance to make a strong first impression on the new coaching staff ahead of Leafs training camp, which will kick off with medicals and media sessions on September 18th.
Cowan is coming off of an incredible OHL season, which saw him secure both regular season and playoff MVP honours, having posted 96 points in 54 games during the season and 34 points in just 18 games during the postseason.
Meanwhile, Minten's year was a little more subdued, with the Vancouver native posting 48 points in 43 games, split between the Kamloops Blazers and Saskatoon Blades. Minten also added 14 points in 16 playoff games.
