After standing on his head on Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils, Sheldon Keefe gave Anthony Stolarz and tandem partner Joseph Woll quite the impressive vote of confidence with his comments about the Leafs' goaltending.
With Stolarz stealing Tuesday's victory, Leafs head coach Craig Berube chose to change up the goaltending rotation and give Stolarz a second straight start.
Stolarz had a much quieter first period on Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks, only facing 8 shots instead of the 15 he faced on Tuesday night through 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, Stolarz was injured at some point in the period and Joseph Woll took over to begin the second period, with the Leafs confirming that Stolarz would not return.
The Leafs announced that Stolarz had left the game due to a lower-body injury, but did not specify whether it was a foot, ankle, knee, hip, groin or hamstring issue.
Berube and the Leafs will likely provide some sort of update on his status following the game, but it looks like the Leafs will be turning to Woll to solidify the crease for Saturday's game and potentially the foreseeable future, depending on the severity of Stolarz's injury.
With Matt Murray already on the shelf, if Stolarz misses time, Dennis Hildeby will likely be recalled, leaving Artur Akhtyamov as the temporary number one goaltender in the AHL.
