The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed goaltender Matt Murray to provide depth behind Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll.

Matt Murray spent the entire 2023-24 season on LTIR for the Leafs after undergoing hip surgery. He returned to the Toronto Marlies at the end of the season on a conditioning stint. In 3 games with the Marlies, Murray struggled going 1-2-0 with a 4.03 GAA and .846 save percentage.

Although he has played just 46 games in the NHL since the 2021-2022 season, Murray is a 2-time Stanley Cup Champion and is just 30-years-old.

Murray and the Leafs agreed to a 1-year deal that will see him earn just $875K as he looks to prove he can stay healthy and regain the form he had for the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2015 to 2019.

In his career, Murray has played in a total of 272 games going 146-86-24 with a 2.79 GAA and .910 save percentage.
