The Toronto Maple Leafs have made their first move of the trade deadline, reportedly acquiring Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Maple Leafs were slow to get off to the races on trade deadline day, but early Friday afternoon, the team has made its first splash, acquiring Scott Laughton, according to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta.
The Leafs desperately needed a 3rd line centre to help bolster their depth down the middle, and not only does Laughton help them shore up their centre depth, but he's also a quality penalty killer as well.

WHAT DID THE LEAFS GIVE UP IN THE SCOTT LAUGHTON TRADE?

After much speculation that Laughton would return at least a 1st round pick and a prospect for Philadelphia, the actual price the Leafs paid was right in line with that.
Per the report below from DFO's Frank Seravalli, the Leafs have sent prospect Nikita Grebenkin and a conditional 1st round pick in 2027 (see Pierre LeBrun's report lower in this article) to the Flyers in exchange for Laughton.
The Flyers will also send a 4th round pick and a 6th round pick to the Leafs and have agreed to retain 50% of the salary on Laughton.
The Leafs' 2027 1st round pick that they've sent to Philadelphia is reportedly top-10 protected.
The Leafs had been linked to Laughton for several seasons running, so the fact that the Leafs finally got their man is certainly welcomed news, given the Leafs' direct competitors in the Atlantic Division all making significant improvements.
Now, we're all, I'm sure, eagerly awaiting to see what the Leafs have in store for us next once Ryan Reaves either clears or is claimed off of waivers at 2:00 pm ET. Once that occurs, the Leafs will still have another hour with which to pull off an additional move or two to further bolster their roster ahead of the playoffs.
