After a long summer of family, friends, sun, travel and training, William Nylander has finally returned to Canada, taking part in a photoshoot session with Sherwood Hockey as they launch their new Feather Lite XT hockey stick.
During the session, Nylander spoke with a Sherwood Hockey rep about his favourite way to score. While some prefer the bar-down approach of banking one off of the underside of the crossbar and in to get that nice clanging sound, and others like the filthy dekes and dangles, Nylander's method of choice, when the opportunity presents itself, is to go 5-hole, right between the pads.
Nylander is entering the first season of his mammoth 8-year, $92M extension this year and the hope is that he can at least match his goal totals from 2022-23 and 2023-24. The 28-year-old Swede potted 40 goals in each of those campaigns.
After producing a career high 98 points last season, Nylander was unable to compete at the start of the playoffs due to a debilitating migraine disorder that impaired his vision and left him with painful headaches. Unfortunately, by the time he was able to re-enter the lineup, it was already too late and the Leafs ultimately dropped a 7-game decision to the Boston Bruins.
Nylander has plenty of motivation to put together a strong 2024-25 season for himself. Not only is he coming off of a career year, but he also has his brother, Alex Nylander, in town with him after his younger sibling inked a 1-year AHL deal with the Toronto Marlies this summer.
