Matthew Knies reveals who he wants the Leafs to play in the 1st round and his answer may shock you
Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Matthew Knies was knocked out of Thursday's game against the Boston Bruins after colliding with Bruins Captain Brad Marchand. Thankfully, there were no long-term affects as Knies returned to the lineup yesterday against the Montreal Canadiens after being held out of Thursday's game as a precaution due to the head contact from the Marchand hit.
Ahead of Saturday's game however, Knies was asked about playing in a playoff type game and a potential preview of the Leafs' first round opponent. Knies was quick to reply with a bold response.
"I'm hoping we get another crack at those guys, and I think it's gonna make for a good series." - Knies on his desire to play Boston in round one.
Knies got his first taste of playoff hockey last season when he joined the Leafs for the final three regular season games and their series against Tampa Bay. He had been playing very well until he was concussed by Florida's Sam Bennett in Game 2 of the second round.
In his first full season with the Leafs, Knies has 11 goals and 26 points through 62 games, but his work in transition, off the wall and down low in front of the net and behind the goal line has been fun to watch. He has also begun to ramp up his physical play of late, which bodes well for the Leafs come playoff time.
