Matthew Knies spotted looking pretty cozy with budding young women's hockey star
While Maple Leafs winger Matthew Knies' sophomore season awaits him in Toronto, it would appear as though love is in the air for the emerging star this summer.
Knies put together an impressive rookie campaign with the Maple Leafs in 2023-24, amassing 15 goals and 35 points in 80 games. He'll undoubtedly be looking to take a big step forward in 2024-25 as he continues on with his development, hopefully rocketing himself into NHL stardom in the coming years.
While Knies is eligible for a contract extension, having just one season remaining on his entry-level contract, things have been very quiet on that front with no reports surfacing indicating that he and the Leafs are even discussing a new deal. Of course, that could change in a hurry once he returns to Toronto ahead of training camp in a little over one month's time
As far as how Knies has been spending his time this summer, he was previously spotted attending a youth hockey camp in Arizona. This week, however, Knies was spotted in Europe, looking pretty cozy with University of Minnesota women's hockey player, Ella Huber.
The caption for the photo thread was "bestie trip 🫶🫶", but it's not the first time the pair have appeared to be cozying up to one another. The two have been photographed together in the past. Just over a year ago, Huber had posted a photo of the pair together with the caption "About time I guess 🫂🤍 Happy one year best friend."
While her posting seems to insist that they're friends, the comments from her friends and some of her University of Minnesota teammates indicate something much more than friendship.
Knies' exploits on the ice are well known, but Huber is quite the player in her own right, having produced 18 goals and 42 points in 39 games for the Gophers last season.
If Knies and Huber are indeed an item, not only are they a cute couple, but a talented one as well.
