The Leafs are looking to get back into the win column on Tuesday as they welcome the Dallas Stars to Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
After a lackluster effort against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, it was pretty clear that there were going to be some changes to the lineup for this one. Those changes included a new linemate for Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
However, changes to the forward group were not the only roster alterations made ahead of tonight's matchup with Dallas. Craig Berube and company appear to be making a change in goal as well.
It's been an up-and-down season for rookie netminder Dennis Hildeby, with a couple of pretty convincing wins against teams like New Jersey and Philadelphia, followed by a tough outing against Vancouver over the weekend.
Now, it appears as though Hildeby will be back on the bench on Tuesday as Joseph Woll was engaged in his game day routine, sitting out for the morning skate in preparation for a start. Hildeby remained in net for the entire on ice session, which he typically does when playing backup.
Woll has won 5 of his last 6 starts, but did lose a rough one to Carolina last week that resulted in him sitting out for the Leafs' matchup with the Canucks over the weekend.
Recently, Steve Dangle and the SPDN crew spoke about the importance of keeping a balanced workload for Joseph Woll, amid injury troubles for Anthony Stolarz.
Speaking of Stolarz, the 30-year-old is due back on skates at some point over the next week, but it's already been reported by TSN's Darren Dreger that Stolarz is likely to remain out of game action until February.
For Woll, who is coming off of a few extra days of rest, look for the 26-year-old to rebound from the 6-3 beat down handed to the Leafs by the Carolina Hurricanes. I'd expect a much more focused Woll tonight against Dallas.
