Earlier this month, Woll signed a 3-year pact with the Maple Leafs, which carries a $3.66M AAV. The salary seems to be a little high for a goalie that has yet to play over 25 games in a season so far in the NHL. However, even though the dollar value may seem a little high right now, it could be a steal of a deal as early as the very first year that it kicks in (2025-26).
As per @domluszczyszyn of The Athletic on X:
Woll has had bad luck so far with injuries during his NHL career so far, but when healthy, he has shown he can be one of the best goalies in the league.
Woll put up a 2.94 GAA with a 0.907 SV% and 12 wins in 25 regular season games in 2022-23, and also had a spectacular postseason where he had a 0.86 GAA, 0.964 SV% and 2 wins in 3 playoff games.
If the 27-year-old can keep healthy for an entire season, I think this contract will have incredible value long before the deal concludes. The numbers seem to back that up.
