"With training camp just about to start for the Toronto Maple Leafs, things are starting to heat up in the Mitch Marner rumor mill. We've heard both Elliotte Friedman and Bob McKenzie give up updates over the last 24 hours. Friedman reporting that things aren't close from what he's heard and McKenzie echoed the same sentiments adding that Marner has rejected massive offers that would pay him $11million a season for seven or eight years. Now Sportsnet's Chris Johnston has also revealed some interesting information. Johnston reported this morning that Marner and his camp are currently talking to other teams trying to land an offer sheet that would involve a three year deal. However it's a tough spot for teams across the league so close to training camp. Johnston adds that the Leafs don't have any interest in a three year deal and would only consider the option in a last minute panic decision to get him on the ice.
