Spittin' Chiclets co-host Paul "Biz Nasty" Bissonnette planting seeds about Connor McDavid and the Maple Leafs in recent social media post.

The Maple Leafs are off to a decent start this season, boasting a 2-1-0 record coming into tonight's matchup against the Los Angeles Kings. The same cannot be said for the Edmonton Oilers, who are 1-3-0 to begin the year.

After a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals last season, the Oilers have gotten off to a slow start, which must really be irking captain Connor McDavid, who was recently spotted in the Amazon Prime "FaceOff" series, screaming at his teammates for their poor effort at the midway point of the Cup Finals.

Bissonnette has often shown himself to be a very open Leafs fan, supporting the team with every opportunity he gets. His latest post is one that should be very entertaining for Leafs Nation and not so entertaining for fans of the Oilers. Biz Nasty suggests that McDavid is simply biding his time until he can sign with the Leafs.

Ignoring the bad jersey edit here, it does make sense for McDavid to potentially come home 2 summers from now. Not only is he a hometown kid, but he happens to be close with Auston Matthews, with the pair training together every off-season. As two of the very best in the world, how great would that 1-2 punch be?

Granted, the Leafs don't need any more high-priced forwards at the moment, but keep in mind that Mitch Marner and John Tavares are both on expiring contracts, which leaves nearly $22M in cap space if both are not re-signed by the club. I'm not saying that's what's happening, but the money for McDavid in 2026 can be there if they want to take a run at him.

The Oilers have already come to terms with Leon Draisaitl on an 8-year extension, and Draisaitl has already suggested that he doesn't know what's on McDavid's mind and that he was simply doing what's best for him when he signed his mega deal a couple of months back. He very openly suggested that McDavid is going to do what he feels is best for himself.

Will McDavid leave Edmonton to sign in Toronto? We have no way of knowing the answer to that question one way or another right now. However, if we are to believe what Bissonnette is selling with his funny social media post, it might be more of a possibility than some believe it to be.
