Despite dealing with a slew of injuries, the Toronto Maple Leafs have continued to perform at a high level, boasting an impressive 16-7-2 record that places them first in the Atlantic Division. However, it seems their injury woes are about to come to an end sooner than expected.
According to Bob McKenzie, via @InsideLeafs on Twitter/X, during TSN's pregame coverage of Friday's matchup between the Maple Leafs and the Capitals, here is when we can expect Max Pacioretty and multiple other key pieces return to the lineup:
With these four players set to return to the lineup soon, the Leafs may find themselves at full strength for the first time all season.
Veteran forward Max Pacioretty, in particular, is the least surprising of the group to make his return, as head coach Craig Berube had indicated last week that Pacioretty was close to being ready..
Jake McCabe and Max Domi, both of whom were seen skating earlier this week, are also on track to rejoin the team early next week.
While the return of injured players is always a positive development, it also means the Leafs will soon face difficult decisions about which players to scratch or send down to the AHL.
The fact that the Maple Leafs have maintained such a strong record despite the injuries speaks volumes about the depth of this roster. With all of these key players back in the fold, the team's potential is sky-high this season, and looks poised for a deep playoff run.
