The Maple Leafs have dealt with more than their fair share of injury issues to kick off the 2024-25 season, and now it appears as though Max Domi is another player who is fighting through something. The veteran forward has now missed consecutive practices after the latest announcement from the Leafs' official PR team.
Domi, who has yet to score a goal for the Maple Leafs, has played in all 18 games for the Leafs so far this season, but after missing back-to-back practices, one has to wonder whether a game or two off would benefit the 2nd generation Maple Leaf.
The Leafs are already without the services of their captain, Auston Matthews, who continues to recover from a mysterious upper-body injury. Were Domi to also be sidelined due to injury, the Leafs would be missing two pretty important pieces, which would not be ideal. However, since Domi is playing through whatever has been ailing him, it would appear as though his issue is a minor one.
After producing 6 assists in his first 6 games of the season, Domi has not recorded a single point in any of his last 12 games, which could be a byproduct of the feisty forward nursing an injury.
The Leafs have a meeting with the Edmonton Oilers on the docket this weekend, so Domi will have one more opportunity to get back on the ice on Saturday for the morning skate ahead of Saturday's game. If he does require a scratch and sits out on the weekend, Domi's next opportunity to get back into game action will come on Wednesday against the Vegas Golden Knights.
