Vancouver Canucks advance to the 2nd round, match up with Edmonton
The Vancouver Canucks are officially off to the 2nd round of the playoffs thanks to a gutsy 1-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Friday evening.
Canucks 3rd string netminder Arturs Silovs was the hero on Friday, making 28 saves on 28 shots to complete the shutout. Vancouver's Pius Suter scored the only goal of the game at 18:21 of the 3rd frame to play the heartbreaker, sending the Preds packing.
Thanks to their win tonight, the Vancouver Canucks will now square off with the Edmonton Oilers in an all-Canadian Western Conference semifinal matchup in Round 2.
With the 1st Western Conference matchup now officially locked in for Round 2, the attention will now turn to the Stars/Golden Knights series, to see who will meet the Colorado Avalanche for a chance at a Conference Finals appearance.
