On a busy Tuesday night in NHL action, the Ottaws Senators were down 5-2 to the Buffalo Sabres with just over three minutes to play in the third when Alex Tuch and Brady Tkachuk took dangerous runs at each other. Tkachuk started by charging at Tuch as the Sabres forward attempted to keep the puck in at the line. Tuch then retaliated by intentionally clipping Tkachuk as he went to turn up ice.

Before Tkachuk even got up, he had his gloves off and went right after Tuch. It didn't appear that Tuch was able to land a punch before Tkachuk landed four in a row with the fourth sending Tuch tumbling backward onto the ice. Tkachuk fell forward on top of Tuch but appeared to ensure Tuch's head did not hit the ice by holding onto the collar of his jersey.

Tuch was able to get up and both players were ejected from the game. Tuch received a penalty for interference on the play while Tkachuk also got a 10-minute misconduct. The Sens made it close, but ultimately fell short, losing 6-4.
