New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba has found himself a topic of discussion the past couple of weeks due to a handful of massive open-ice hits. Trouba has always toed the line when it comes to his hits, but for the most part, has always delivered clean hits. Today however, Trouba finds himself the topic of discussion for a very different reason.

During the Rangers game yesterday against the Boston Bruins, a scrum had occurred in front of the Rangers net where Trouba and Bruins forward Trent Frederic engaged in a shoving match. It quickly turned into more and as Trouba was attempting to slash Frederic it appears Frederic pushed Trouba's arm. That resulted in Trouba slashing Frederic in the side of the head.

Trouba was not given a penalty on the play, but the Player Safety Department announced this morning that Trouba was fined $5K, which is the maximum allowable under the CBA agreement. Whether an accident or not, I'm shocked that Trouba didn't at least have a hearing for the incident given how much his boarder-line play has been discussed recently.
