We all know that the Stanley Cup tends to take a bit of a beating over the summer, as celebration after celebration occurs as everyone from the team who won it gets to take a turn to have their day with the Cup.
Unfortunately for Tkachuk, even before his day with the Cup, he may have taken his celebrations a little too far and did something that is very much against the rules during an outing with his teammates in Florida. He tossed it in the ocean.
KSDK News spoke with Tkachuk following the incident and the former 6th overall pick told the news outlet that he was entirely unaware of the rule and that the violation was completely accidental.
Tkachuk didn't take credit for the idea, though, as his brother, Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, was apparently the one egging him on to take the Cup for a swim.
Obviously, now he knows better. At this point, the league has not issued a fine against Tkachuk for his actions. Whether or not we see a situation like that come to fruition is unknown, but personally, I see it as an unlikely outcome in this instance.
