Henrique is coming off of an impressive campaign, where he tied his career-high in points with 51. The 34-year-old Ontario native was traded by the Anaheim Ducks to the Edmonton Oilers ahead of the trade 2023-24 deadline. Unfortunately for Henrique and the Oilers, they fell short in the Stanley Cup Finals after their incredible run.
According to David Pagnotta, Henrique and the Oilers will part ways as the veteran forward is set to become a free agent on July 1st.
Henrique is sure to fetch a lot of interest as he is a reliable 3C with loads of experience, is defensively responsible, and can also chip in offensively. He's very well-rounded and can be trusted in all situations on the ice, including special teams.
There may a home-coming in the future for Henrique and the Maple Leafs. The veteran pivot would be a great fit in the 3C slot and would help relieve some of the scoring pressure from the top 6. He would be a great value add, at the right price, to a Leafs team that often lacks depth scoring.
If Henrique wants to take a hometown discount, him signing with the Maple Leafs makes a lot of sense.
