Typically, players selected at #185 in the NHL Draft are seen as unprobable NHLers rather than top prospects. However, Noah Chadwick, the Leafs' 6th round pick in 2023, continues to defy expectations and turn heads in the hockey world.
The 6'4 defenseman had an impressive summer, making Team Canada's World Junior Summer Showcase squad. This positions him as a strong candidate for the Canadian World Juniors team coming up in December. The summer also saw him earn the honour of being named the 32nd captain of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, which the organization announced on Friday.
While Chadwick is known for his offensive prowess, as evidenced by his 56 points in 66 games for the Hurricanes last season, he is also a solid defender, showcasing his all-around skills and obvious leadership in the locker room, as he is now the captain of his squad.
As a 6th round pick, Chadwick is starting to look like a tremendous steal for the Maple Leafs. While he's still likely 2-3 years away from some time in the NHL, Chadwick is really beginning to make a name for himself.
