Of the big-name Leafs players, William Nylander is someone who is mentioned a lot in these fan-made trade scenarios, and here's one that would send him to Calgary, the city he was born in, along with Nick Robertson.
Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin are two of Calgary's biggest trade chips this off-season, so it makes sense to use them in a possible deal. Both are on expiring contracts, with Hanifin also confirming last week that he does not intend to re-up in Calgary.
It appears light on the Leafs' side of things in this instance. I'm not convinced that the Flames would even entertain this one as it sits, but the Leafs could add to the deal to make it a more palatable one with the Flames, I'm sure. They have a number of intriguing prospects in the pipeline that might entice the Flames.
From both Calgary and Toronto's perspectives, there's likely no deal to be had here without contract extensions in place for Nylander, Hanifin and Lindholm. Each player is entering the final year of his respective deal, so I'm not sure there's much actual sense in moving expiring deals for more expiring deals.
