Fan breaks glass in penalty box; penalty box attendant injured
We haven't seen this type of thing happen since a Flyers fan fell into the box and got dummied by Tie Domi about 20 years ago. During the Bruins, Hurricanes game Bruins fans were celebrating so hard that a panel of glass that separates the fans from the penalty box fell out and landed on the penalty box attendant.
The glass landed directly on the man's head. Trainers rushed across the ice as soon as they were able to attend to him. They decided it would be best to take the attendant out on a stretcher with a neck brace on. It was likely precautionary, and we hope the attendant is alright.
I understand that it was accidental, but it's just a cautionary tale as to why it's important to control yourself. We don't know the extent of the damage yet, but my gut tells me that this one could have ended a lot worse.
