Forward scratched for ''precautionary reasons''; do the Leafs have a trade in the works?
Toronto Marlies forward Bobby McMann missed Maple Leafs training camp with an injury and failed to make the team as a result. The 27-year-old undrafted forward has since played in six games for the Marlies, but could be on the move, if we're interpreting his current situation properly.
Last night, as the Marlies defeated Grand Rapids 7-3, McMann was watching from the press box for what the team called "precautionary reasons". Usually when a player is scratched for that reason, it means that they are likely to be traded. The other possible, but less likely reason is that the Leafs would like him to be healthy and join them as an extra player as they head over to Sweden for a pair of games next week.
Either way, it caught the eye of many and could mean that McMann is going to be on the move. Whether that is down to Scotiabank Arena for tonight's game against the Vancouver Canucks, to Sweden with the Leafs next week or perhaps somewhere else in the AHL in a minor deal or as a part of a package in a larger deal, we will find out shortly.
In six games with the Marlies this season, McMann has three points and in 30 games with the team last season he had 21 goals and 29 points.
