For the past few weeks, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli has been very critical of Auston Matthews' play. However, Seravalli was on The FAN Morning Show today and retracted his previous comments about Matthews' play.

"Whatever I have said about Auston Matthews the past few weeks, I would like to take it back. For weeks I've been saying I can't believe that more people aren't talking about how disappointing Auston Matthews' season has been. When I watched Saturday night, that is the first time all season long that I was like 'oh my god he's back.' He had that cool assassin, no matter what happens in this game I'm going to be a threat every single time I'm on the ice. That has not happened all season long. We've been waiting for it...Last year, every single night was like this guy is gunna score six times. Saturday night I was like, oh there it is. This is the first time all year long I've been able to say, 'he's back'."

Since March first, Matthews has been held without a point in just 2 games and in 13 games this month so far he has 8 goals and 18 points with 4 goals and 6 points in his last 3 games. In games against Florida and Carolina last week Matthews scored twice in both games, which is the first time all season he scored two goals in back-to-back games and just the fifth and sixth time he had scored multiple goals in a game compared to the 15 times he did it last season. With just 9 games remaining in the season, Matthews has turned it on at just the right time.
