In waiver-wire news, three players were placed on NHL waivers yesterday in Toronto Maple Leafs forward, Joey Anderson, Anaheim Ducks forward, Justin Kirkland, and Florida Panthers forward, Chris Tierney. Earlier today it was announced that both Anderson and Kirkland have cleared but the Montreal Canadiens put in a successful claim on Tierney.

This was the second time this season that Anderson was placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs with the first instance taking place on the 8th of October for re-assignment. Anderson has played in 14 games for the Leafs this season, only holds a 750,000$ cap hit, will be a restricted free agent by years's end, and has done a tremendous job down in the AHL with 27 points in 30 games.

The 28-year-old Tierney split time this season with the Florida Panthers and the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. In 20 games with the Checkers, he scored 3 goals and 16 points, while suiting up in 13 NHL games and scoring 2 goals and chipping in with an assist. The veteran of 574 NHL games previously played for the San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators and was a piece in the Erik Karlsson blockbuster trade in 2018.
