Leafs' projected starter for tonight's game a bit of a surprise
After being sent down to the AHL over the weekend, Joseph Woll found himself back on the ice with the Leafs at the morning skate today due to an injury to Matt Murray. The injury to Murray forced Ilya Samsonov to play his third game in a row, second in two days and third in a five day span.
With just one day off between games, it would appear as though Sheldon Keefe has elected to start Woll and give Samsonov a rest. Woll was first goalie off the ice at practice this morning. Woll last played for the Leafs against Nashville on March 26th, posting a 3-2 win, stopping 23 of 25 shots.
On the season, Woll is 3-1-0 with the Leafs in 4 games where he has posted a 2.03 GAA and .934 save percentage. Expect Samsonov to be back between the pipes Thursday when the Leafs take on the Bruins.
