Leafs reportedly dealing with multiple injuries; several line changes possible for Game 6 in Tampa
The Leafs did not bring their best effort against Tampa in Game 5 last night, which resulted in a 4-2 Lightning win, with the Bolts forcing a Game 6 tomorrow night back at Amalie Arena in Tampa. The Buds weren't forechecking nearly as hard as they were earlier in the series and they had a lot of trouble breaking the puck out of their zone. As it turns out, the effort may have been just a part of the problem.
Sheldon Keefe spoke with the media following the team's morning skate before departing for Tampa today and revealed that the Leafs are currently dealing with multiple injuries. He also confirmed that there could be several line changes for Game 6 as a result, but that the day would have to play out before any decisions are made.
It has been a rough series, to be sure. The Leafs and Lightning have not taken it easy on one another, combining for at least 80 hits in each of the last 3 games alone. The type of series this one has been can take its toll. Thankfully, the Leafs have good depth at all positions, so as long as it's not one of their top guys who is dealing with an injury, they should be able to just plug and play tomorrow night in Tampa.
