The good news is that, thanks to his incredible work ethic, Robertson has successfully rehabbed from all of his injuries and entered training camp healthy this season. He looked good in his first pre-season game, filling in on the top powerplay unit and finding himself room to get that lethal shot of his off. Now it appears he's earned himself an opportunity to make the team out of camp, on a line that should play to his strengths ridiculously well.
Robertson skated on a line with William Nylander and Max Domi at Tuesday's practice, thanks in part to a mysterious injury suffered by Calle Jarnkrok. The trio could combine to make an excellent third scoring line for the Leafs this season and cause havoc for opposing teams playing the matchup game.
Skating with a playmaker like Max Domi should see Robertson getting set up for shots on a regular basis, especially with William Nylander drawing the bulk of attention from defenders. If Robertson is able to stick on that line, this could finally be the season where he truly breaks out and becomes the full time NHLer we've all been waiting for.
We'll get our first taste of this new-look line tonight when the Leafs take on the Buffalo Sabres with puck drop scheduled to occur shortly after 7:00pm ET.
