Sandin told the media on Monday that "it's going to be a special one, but it's going to be a lot of fun, too. Hopefully we can come out with the win, too". He also revealed that since he knows Nylander so well, he knows just how to get under his skin.
Nylander, upon hearing that Sandin had something in store for him on the ice on Tuesday night, was entirely unbothered and told the media, "he tries to [get under my skin] but he can't. I just let him be."
It's clear by Nylander's comments that he plans to beat Sandin and the Caps on the scoreboard. Nylander has never been one to be bothered by what anyone else says, and he knows full well that with he and Sandin being such close friends that anything that happens out on the ice between the two is all for fun.
"He's one of my best friends. Just sharing that last little bit as teammates together was special for sure... It's going to be fun facing him tomorrow for the first time in the NHL."
The Leafs are 3-2-0 to begin the season, while the Capitals currently sit 1-2-1 on the year. Both teams will be hungry for a win and with the Capitals having home ice advantage, they'll have the luxury of the final line change, meaning that they'll be trying to get the matchups they want all night long.
