On November 4th, the Bruins shocked the hockey world and signed prospect Mitchell Miller to an ELC, a young man who was previously drafted by the Arizona Coyotes, but had his rights rescinded after details of extreme bullying had emerged. The Bruins did not do their due diligence, and have since rescinded their contract offer after fans, league executives and even Bruins players publicly criticized this move. After the club released Miller, captain Patrice Bergeron spoke to the media with his reaction to the team moving on from Miller.

When asked about his message to the fans, Bergeron said:

We hear you. And our values remain the same.

Bergeron also admitted that this entire situation had been a distraction for the team:

Now, I feel like we can turn the page.

On the topic of whether the entire locker room was against the signing, he added:

In a way, yes. I'm glad we were heard.

It is clear that Bergeron and the rest of the locker room did not support this decision, and while it's good the contract offer was rescinded by the Bruins, it should have never been offered in the first place. It seems there is a different culture in the locker room than the front office in Boston, and one has to wonder what that could mean in the long run.
