Despite the friction between he and the media, Phil Kessel has been a player who has been loved by his teammates everywhere he's gone. Now a 3-time Stanley Cup Champion, Kessel is likely headed to free agency again this summer, so he'll probably have the opportunity to bond with a new group of guys on a new team next season.

During an appearance on Spittin Chiclets this week, Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jonathan Marchessault was asked about Kessel. He revealed that everyone on the Golden Knights couldn't get enough of Kessel. His response even led to a funny conversation about Kessel's pre-game speech before Game 5 against the Florida Panthers - a game the Golden Knights won by a score of 9-3 to secure the organization's first Stanley Cup.

"He's a character.. like, the way he speaks, the way he says things.. now everybody talks like him on the team. Like, all the expressions - we all talk the same way as him, like, 'you have to stop saying my lines here, eh? When I'm gone, you guys have to stop saying my lines!' He's so funny.. Like, he comes in before Game 5, the practice day, and he's like, 'If you f***ing guys lose that game and I have to f***ing fly to Florida and back, I'm gonna be pissed!' It was so much fun to just be around that guy this year." - Marchessault on how much the team enjoyed Kessel's personality this year

Kessel, who holds the NHL's iron man record at 1,064 games, may not be an everyday NHLer anymore at 35 years old, but after putting up 14 goals and 36 points in 82 games for the Golden Knights this season, he can certainly still help a team in need of some production from their bottom 6 this season. It will be interesting to see whether he remains in Vegas this summer or ends up elsewhere via free agency.
