While the Leafs left Dallas with a 4-1 win on the heels of another stellar performance from Joseph Woll, it came at the expense of a defenseman. Jake McCabe left the game just 10 seconds into his first shift with a lower-body injury.

The injury forced the Leafs to play five defensemen the rest of the game and made them play John Klingberg and Mark Giordano more than Sheldon Keefe maybe would have liked to. It seemed to have worked out well for the Leafs as Morgan Rielly and Timothy Liljegren had phenomenal games playing more minutes.

Following the game, Sheldon Keefe provided an update on McCabe and it doesn't appear to be good. Keefe confirmed that McCabe pulled something on his first shift and confirmed he will miss Saturday's game in Nashville but is unsure of how long the defenseman will miss until further tests are done.

The Leafs will likely call up Simon Benoit for Saturday's game which means they will either have to send Pontus Holmberg back down the th3 Marlies or send Fraser Minten back to the WHL.
