The Toronto Maple Leafs took a bit of a beating last night at the hands of the New York Islanders. It was an emotional night as John Tavares made his return to Long Island for the first time since signing with the Leafs and it might have been overwhelming for the team. An isolated game hopefully as we won't see that scenario again anytime soon. Regardless, the score ended 6-1 Islanders and the Montreal Canadiens can cut the Leafs lead on them to five points with a win tonight. While head coach Mike Babcock stood up for Tavares after the game "You must be a real special player & real special person for them to honour you like that, because they only boo you if you're important ..." he didn't stick up for his team's performance at all. "If you do this in the playoffs, you lose. You're done right away. Period." After the Leafs host the Buffalo Sabres at home Saturday, it doesn't get easy for the Leafs who will go on their Western Canada road trip against the Flames, Canucks and Oilers and return home for a huge matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
