In an article from Hockey Feed, which was translated from a French article from La Presse, it was revealed that Gagne is currently standing trial in Saint-Hyacinthe, PQ for his alleged crimes, which include assault, s*xual assault, assault with a deadly weapon, and uttering threats. He is even accused of hiring a hitman to take her life.
The former Leafs prospect, who spent time with the Toronto Marlies and Newfoundland Growlers during the 2018-19 season, is not only being accused of these heinous crimes, but also of abusing drugs and alcohol regularly.
His ex-girlfriend, known in the court case only as "Daphne" alleges that she was constantly in "survival mode", allowing the defendant to attack her unchallenged because she feared for her life.
One specific incident that the victim alleges occurred when she was coaxed into a car with Gagne only for the former professional hockey player to hit speeds of up to 240 km/h before threatening to k*ll them both.
It's too early yet to speculate as to what the outcome will be in this case, but it is worth noting that Gagne had spent a combined nine months in the correctional system stemming from a pair of incidents in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, he did 6 months for harassment of another ex-partner. In 2024, he lured a young female under the age of 16, which landed him a 3-month stint behind bars after he pled guilty.
Thoughts and prayers are with the first two victims and the alleged third victim. If Gagne is found guilty, hopefully he spends much longer behind bars and gets the psychological help that he needs before he goes too far.
