Ex-NHL Coach Shreds Maple Leafs Winger Mitch Marner For Undercutting Craig Berube

Former NHL head coach Bruce Boudreau was displeased with recent comments made by Leafs star Mitch Marner, which directly contradicted his head coach.
After being shut-out by the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, Mitch Marner's post-game comments became the primary topic of discussion as he directly contradicted comments made by Chris Tanev, Craig Berube and other Leafs, who felt that the effort and execution in Saturday's loss was poor.
Marner was originally called out for his comments on Monday by Nick Kypreos, Justin Bourne and Sam McKee on 'The Real Kyper and Bourne'. Now, another personality has chimed in as well.
Not only was Marner called out for his controversial comments by reporters, but former NHL head coach Bruce Boudreau berated Marner for undermining Berube publicly on TSN's 'That's Hockey'.
"I wouldn't have been happy, I can tell you right now," Boudreau said. "Showing up the coach like that is not a good thing. I would have pulled him inside and said 'Mitch, what do you really mean by that? Are you just trying to be a smartass in saying that? Or do you think we really played up to the standard that we have made?'"
The Stanley Cup winning coach continued to lay into Marner, saying that publicly making those comments following a loss was not the time or the place, suggesting he should have held off and reviewed the tape the next day before saying what he did.
"If you thought we played good, let's review the tape tomorrow because that wasn't a very good effort."
Despite never coaching the Leafs, the Stanley Cup winning coach is a favourite of Leafs fans with some on social media hoping the Leafs make a mid-season coaching change replacing Marc Savard with him to fix the struggling power play.
