Fairly Positive Updates On Auston Matthews

"Auston Matthews missed today's morning skate after suffering a shoulder injury late in last night's shootout win at the New York Islanders. Just before the team took the ice this morning, Bob McKenzie reported that Matthews was scheduled for an MRI today.
Head coach Mike Babcock met with the media after today's morning skate and gave a fairly positive update on the Leafs young star. Babcock confirmed that Matthews did suffer a shoulder injury and, although they are still awaiting the results of the MRI, he is considered day-to-day.
Babcock also added that this injury will not cause the Maple Leafs to change their trade deadline plans.

Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos provided some good news this afternoon as well. While we should expect Matthews to be out for the next handful games, the injury appears to not be nearly as bad as feared.
Indications last night were Auston Matthews shoulder injury wasn't serious pending the MRI to confirm. Some talk compared his injury to the one Mitch Marner suffered last season vs CBJ that cost him 5 games. @nhl @MapleLeafs
