The Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers will do it all over again tonight after a game between the two teams on Jan. 5th that resulted in Leafs defenceman Jake McCabe leaving the game with what looked to be a devastating injury.
McCabe decided to square off with Garnet Hathaway of the Flyers with just seconds left in the first period of the game, with McCabe getting injured as the two crashed to the ice.
An update on McCabe had him being placed on injured reserve for at least a week.
In advance of tonight's rematch, Hathaway was asked about McCabe's injury, and said he didn't even know anything was wrong until after the game had ended.
Max Domi decided to get some revenge for the injury by elbowing Hathaway later in the game.
As a result, the NHL's Department of Player Safety dropped the hammer on him with a $5000 fine for his actions.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has already announced that Ryan Reaves is back in the lineup for tonight's game, given what happened in the last matchup.
Berube said the team has to be prepared for a physical game and he wanted a heavier lineup for tonight.
It won't be a surprise at all if Reaves and Hathaway end up dropping the gloves before the final buzzer as Reaves looks for retribution for his fallen teammate.
