Entering the final season of his current contract, Woll signed a three-year extension with the Leafs in July that will see him earn a very mild $3.66M per season.
The final year of his current deal got off to a rough start when Woll was injured ahead of the Leafs' season opening game, but has since picked up where he left off in the playoffs against the Boston Bruins last season.
With his partner Anthony Stolarz out until the end of January at the earliest, Woll is relishing the opportunity as the Leafs' undisputed starting goalie.
The 26-year-old has won his last four starts, giving up just eight goals in that span.
Although he had the night off against the Flyers on Sunday in the second half of yet another back-to-back for the Leafs, former NHL goaltender and current Philadelphia Flyers analyst Brian Boucher joined TSN's 'First Up' on Monday and had some very surprising things to say about the future of the former third-round pick.
Boucher also went on to say that he sees the Leafs as a team who could very well go beyond the quarterfinals in the playoffs this year.
Through 19 games this season, Woll has posted a 13-6-0 record with 1 shutout to go along with a 2.48 GAA and .914 save percentage. Although he has played in just 55 career regular season games, the Missouri native has certainly endeared himself to fans, teammates, coaches and management with his calming demeanor and ability to provide a stabilizing presence between the pipes when things get chaotic.
Given the fact that the Leafs gave him a three-year extension, the team sees him as their goalie of the present and future and are hopeful that he can prove Boucher right.
