"The Toronto Maple Leafs will likely be looking to add some help on the blueline before the February trade deadline. Darren Dreger recently mentioned that the Leafs could be talking with the Columbus Blue Jackets about Jack Johnson, however the team might actually look to the Western Conference for their blueline help. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman spoke about Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie during the recent addition of the "31 Thoughts" podcast with Jeff Marek. Marek asked Friedman if he could confirm that the Leafs had interest in the defenseman and the insider confirmed that they've tried tried to land the defenseman in the past. «The Leafs have had interest in Tyson Barrie before,» indicated Friedman. «There's no question about that. I don't know if it was this summer or a year ago. «But I do think there are going to be teams that ask Colorado, 'What are you doing with Tyson Barrie here.' «Barrie is just 26 years old and has two more years on his contract at $5.5million. Do you think he would be a good addition to the Leafs right side? "
