David Kampf could be the odd one out as the Maple Leafs look to make changes to their bottom 6.

Kampf is headed into year 2 of a 4-year pact with the Maple Leafs worth $2.4M per season. He has been a decent player for the Leafs. However, at that cap-hit, he may find himself on outside looking in for a cap-strapped Maple Leafs team.

As per Nick Kypreos of the Toronto Star, Kampf could be the prime target for a trade to help lower the cost of the 4th line:

''The bottom-six forwards need some attention as well. Is David Kampf still in the plans to lead the Leafs' checking line? There's a good chance they cut bait there as well.''

The truth is, Kampf is a very defensively responsible player that penalty kills and can go up against opposing teams' top talent. However, Kampf often disappears in the offensive zone, making him a black hole' in the attacking zone.

If the Czech forward had a more modest cap hit, closer to the $1.5M AAV he carried on his previous deal, I don't think we would be discussing the potential of shipping him out of Toronto. Unfortunately, that is not the case and with his current cap-hit, he may be a luxury that the team cannot afford.
