It's a puzzle that Toronto Maple Leafs' general manager Kyle Dubas has yet to solve but he'll continue to try. The always interesting Maple Leafs' blueline. He made a pretty solid move by bringing over Jake Muzzin to give it a boost, but also kind of failed with the Tyson Barrie acquisition. There's some youngsters waiting in the wings but it's not guaranteed that they're ready to eat up some big minutes yet. Recently the team was linked to free agent defenseman Dustin Byfuglien as one of the top landing spots after he mutually terminated his contract with Winnipeg. Rory Boylen of Sportsnet has the Leafs as one of the potential landing spots along with the Minnesota Wild and Florida Panthers. "Byfuglien would be nice in Toronto's top four, but even on a value contract, the team may have to move some money around elsewhere. Would Leaf fans want Byfuglien instead of, say, Alexander Kerfoot? We'll assume yes on the surface. But is this sort of investment, and the subsequent moves that would need to happen, worth it if you don't even really know what Byfuglien has left" Of course it would likely require Big Buff to accept a minimum deal kind of like what Ilya Kovalchuk did with the Montreal Canadiens during the season. It's a perfect fit though as the Leafs are a contender with a need for a right handed defenseman. If Byfuglien has recovered from his surgery, he could eat big minutes alongside Morgan Rielly on the team's top pairing. Would you like to see Byfuglien in a Leafs' uniform?
