When Mark Hunter walked away from the Toronto Maple Leafs after he was passed up for Kyle Dubas in regards to the Leafs GM job, many thought he would land an NHL gig. He had his sights set on a GM gig, however that never came about and he didn't want to be in another assistant or advisor role. So instead Hunter has decided to head back to the OHL and and has taken over the general manager role with the London Knights. Hunter co-owns the team along with his brother Dale and helped lead the team to the 2005 Memorial Cup. The move could benefit the Leafs as they'll have a familiar working with some of the top tier prospects in Canada, if Hunter wants to help them of course. The Knights current GM, Rob Simpson will be moved to associate general manager. "Rob and I will be working together every day in order to achieve the goals of our organization," Hunter said in a statement.
"He has done an outstanding job in all facets of his position and I look forward to continuing to work with him on all elements within our organization."
