Nick Robertson's number one flaw revealed by a former Toronto Maple Leaf
Maple Leafs winger Nick Robertson is not without his flaws, but one former Maple Leafs defenseman has pinpointed one of his biggest weaknesses.
Unsigned and unwavering on his trade request, Robertson has a golden opportunity in front of him to prove he deserves a more offensively driven role with the Maple Leafs. The Leafs appear ready to draw a hard line with him and have no intensions of trading the 22-year-old, former second-round pick, if they can avoid it.
Former Leaf Frankie Corrado posted a video to 'X' on Friday, breaking down a few plays that show Robertson's biggest issue -- his awareness in the offensive zone.
"This is where Nick Robertson needs to get better on a night to night basis," said Corrado at the beginning of the clip.
Corrado goes on to break down a pair of clips that show how Robertson can battle for position and others where he seemingly chooses not to.
"I say consistently because he can do it, he has done it...The tools are all there. The opportunity is there. If I'm Toronto, I don't know if I want to give up on that skill package," Corrado said to end the clip.
As we get closer to training camp, Robertson will have to make a decision about whether he wants to play this season as it does not appear the Leafs will be moving him at this point. Should he choose to play, given the opportunity, reaching the 20-goal mark seems like it will be easy for him as he scored 14 goals while averaging just over 11 minutes per game in 56 games last season.
