"The Toronto Marlies' season is over and as expected a bunch of players will be available for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Once the season is back up and running for the NHL, a group of Marlies players will be available for the Leafs' "taxi squad". Marlies GM Laurence Gilman held a conference call with reporters on Monday after the news and confirmed some players have been told to be ready to join the Leafs. While Gilman wouldn't say which players have been told to be ready, he did have some praise for one of his defensemen. Gilman said that Timothy Liljegren should be ready to ride with the Leafs full time next year even if he's not playing every night. "I will be surprised if he doesn't play in the top seven or eight with the Toronto Maple Leafs next year." While obviously it would have been amazing to hear him say "Top 4", defensemen take a little longer to season so it's still a huge compliment for the 21 year old. Liljegren played in 11 games for the Leafs this past season and registered an assist while putting up 30 points in 40 games at the AHL level with the Marlies.
