"A couple of weeks ago Steve Simmons dropped a bombshell on Toronto and the hockey world when he reported that Auston Matthews had tested positive for coronavirus. The Leafs refused to make a statement regarding the report and Frederik Andersen who had been living with the forward said he had already left Arizona and couldn't comment on Matthews' health. With training camps set to open tomorrow, TSN's Mark Masters has revealed an update on the forward. Masters reports that Matthews has been deemed fit to play and will be at camp on Monday. He also notes that Matthews actually tested positive back in May and has been quarantining ever since. The Leafs play the Columbus Blue Jackets August 1 in Game 1 of their best of five series.
