Levshunov is projected to go in the top 10 in the 2024 entry draft. The big d-man is currently listed at 6'2 and 208 pounds, and has an impressive 9 goals and 26 assists in 38 GP for Michigan State University. However, some question how old the prospect actually is, as his appearance and size appear to be that of a full grown man.
Grant McCagg from the Sick Podcast Recrutes Draftcast goes on to say, that:
There have been allegations in the past against Russian prospects potentially lying about their age so they can seem to be younger, however these allegation have not been proven.
Apparently, when Levshunov went to the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL at 16, many spoke on how "there is no way this player is 18", as his appearance and size made people question how old he was.
Lastly, McCagg went on to ask an important question; "What if he (Levshunov) is 20 years old? How much better is he going to get?"
While these allegations on Levshunov are outlandish, it is fair to mention that it's not right that Levshunov is in this years NHL draft if he is, in fact, not the age he claims to be.
One thing to note is regardless of age, the Belarus native Levshunov is a talented prospect that likely has a long career ahead of him in the NHL.
