One of the issues on every team's mind at the moment is long term injured reserve (LTIR), or as Toronto Maple Leafs fans call it, "Robidas island". You know, that magical place where players who are too hurt to play and their cap hit disappears.
Normally, LTIR is just fine and a blessing to teams. Over recent years however, teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vegas Golden Knights appear to have abused the system, holding out star players like Nikita Kucherov and Mark Stone all season, only for them to be healthy once the cap disappears in the playoffs. Nobody batted an eye until they saw their competitors stack teams and win Cups in this way. Daly had this to say on the subject.
So yeah, just business speak. Like the old saying goes "If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying," and as long medical records back it up, it's hard to see any significant changes coming here.
Of course, the biggest concern for everyone relates to the potential of another lockout. Thankfully, Daly addressed these concerns on Tueaday, suggesting that another lockout is increasingly unlikely.
I'm sure we're all thrilled to hear that a lockout doesn't seem likely, but until the ink dries on the new CBA, I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
