Cal Petersen, in desperation mode, makes an absurd diving save with early save of the year candidate

With the Rangers up 3-2 and pressuring on a chance by Kaapo Kakko, Kings goalie Cal Petersen got tangled up with one of his defensemen as he slid out of the crease to cut down an angle. As he was caught out of the net, Kakko circled and fired a shot at the open net, only to have Petersen dive back and get the tip of his glove on it at the last second.

Considering Peterson not only got tangled up with his defenseman behind the net but was also facing the complete wrong way, the fact he managed to get back to the net is impressive in and of itself. To get the tip of his glove on Kakko's shot is another layer of drama and while it didn't end up being a difference maker as the Kings lost 5-3, it is definitely an early save of the year candidate.
